Selina Eisenberg

Born in Ottawa, Selina Eisenberg dipped her toe into the world of storytelling while teaching Pre-Kindergarten at Akiva School in Montreal. She shared the stories in Alberta while on the TD Canadian Children’s Book Week Tour (2013), and soon found herself on stage at Storytellers of Canada Conferences in PEI, Vancouver and Edmonton. At the start of the pandemic, she began hosting a two-hour swap for her guild every second Thursday. Word spread and in no time at all the online swap was aptly renamed The Montreal Storytellers Guild & Friends that she and cohost Rob Cloney met via surf storytelling. At any given swap, you can hear diverse tellers from Canada, United States, UK, Ireland, France, India, Brazil, and as far away as the Philippines. In person, she has also told in Ottawa, Toronto, US, as far away as Israel, Ireland, and even told stories in French here in Montreal at the Festilou Festival. Despite the many lockdowns this year, she virtually toured on behalf of the Canadian Children’s Book Centre at schools in Ontario and the Yukon from the comfort of her kitchen. Her online storytelling presence includes being the featured teller this year for Storytelling Orillia’s World Storytelling Concert (New Beginnings), Victoria Storytellers Guild – Stories at Fern (Elemental Stories), Saint John’s Storytelling Swap, and having a spot at the online Chennai Storytelling Festival. She proudly boasts being a member of the Montreal Storytellers Guild, Past-President of Storytellers of Canada, and a new member of FEAST (Federation of Asian Storytellers) where she has become a bit of a regular featured teller.
