Born and raised in Argentina, Marta committed to the art of traditional storytelling in Ottawa, where she performed annually at the National Arts Centre’s Fourth Stage Series from 2005 to 2018. Her ensemble performances include the 12-hour renditions of The Odyssey (2012) and The Iliad (2014). As a solo artist, Marta has performed at all major storytelling festivals in Canada, as well as in schools, universities, and literary festivals in Canada, Mexico, and Argentina (2005–2019). Her signature shows weave bold strands of memoir with Argentina’s public past. Folktales and fairy tales underpin the core of her practice: it is her passion for the wondertale that fans the flame of her art. She recently moved to Sherbrooke, Quebec, to join the local storytelling community, train with francophone artists rooted in the oral tradition, and attend Jihad Darwiche’s workshops on the Arabian Nights.
